You might want to make simple Bread Rolls for dinner but adding healthy ingredients to your precious Bread Rolls will not only lower your calorie intake but decrease your risk of certain diseases. This is just a quick recipe for making soft and nutritious dairy free Bread Rolls with Chia Seeds.
Chia seeds are rich in fiber and Omega 3 fatty acids and and the taste is wonderful when used for baking. I used White Wholewheat Flour, Maple Syrup and other ingredients that are simple and the result is perfect. These Bread Rolls are nutritious and perfect for breakfast or dinner.
INGREDIENTS
2 cups White Whole Wheat Flour
2 1/2 cups White Flour
1/4 cup Chia Seeds
5 tablespoons Vegetable Oil
5 tablespoons Maple Syrup
2 teaspoons Active Dry Yeast
1 teaspoon Maple Syrup for yeast proofing
1 cup warm Coconut Milk or Soy Milk (110° F) for the yeast
3/4 cup warm Coconut Milk or Soy Milk (105° F) for the Chia Seeds
MAPLE WASH
3 teaspoons Maple Syrup
1 tbsp Coconut Milk or Soy Milk
INSTRUCTIONS
Preheat the Oven to 350° F
Dissolve the Yeast with 1 cup of warm Coconut Milk or Soy Milk and 1 tsp of Maple Syrup and set aside for 5 - 10 minutes.
Soak the Chia Seeds with 3/4 cup of Coconut Milk or Soy Milk.
Combine the dry ingredients together in a stand mixer.
Add the soaked Chia seeds, yeast mixture and other ingredients and mix until smooth and not sticking to the fingers.
Confirm the texture, more liquid or flour can be added if necessary, always start with just 1 teaspoon at a time.
Knead Dough for extra five minutes with the mixer or knead with hands for 8-10 minutes and grease a large Bowl lightly with Vegetable Oil.
Put dough into the Bowl and turn it upside down to grease the top.
Cover the Bowl with a Kitchen Towel and place it in a warm room for 1 hour to 1 1/2 hours.
Uncover dough after the first rise and make dough balls.
Line a Baking Tray with Parchment Paper or Baking Mat.
Place the Dough Balls into the tray and cover it again with a Kitchen Towel..
Keep the Tray in a warm room for 20-25 minutes or wait until the Dough Balls are doubled in size.
Combine the ingredients for the Maple Wash together and stir well to combine.
Brush the mixture on top of the Dough Balls with a Silicone Brush.
Bake the Balls for 20-25 minutes or until lightly browned
Allow them to cool for 3-4 hours and enjoy your freshly baked dinner Bread Rolls.
STORAGE
Wrap the Bread Rolls with Kitchen foil or put them into Paper Bread Bags and keep at room temperature for up to 2 days. It is always better to enjoy them freshly baked within 24 hours.
